These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the frij mobile app and website (the “Service”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. The Service
frij helps you scan grocery receipts, track food items, estimate expiry windows, and receive reminders to reduce food waste. The Service is provided for personal, non-commercial household use.
2. Eligibility & accounts
You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age in your country) to use frij. You are responsible for the activity under your account and for keeping your login secure. Provide accurate information and notify us of any unauthorized use.
3. Expiry estimates are estimates
frij provides smart expiry estimates based on item type, purchase date, and storage location. A receipt contains no actual freshness data, and our estimates may be wrong. frij is not a food-safety device. Always use your own judgment and your senses before eating any food. Do not rely on frij to determine whether food is safe to consume.
4. Acceptable use
- Don’t misuse, reverse-engineer, or attempt to disrupt or gain unauthorized access to the Service.
- Don’t upload content that is unlawful or that infringes others’ rights.
- Don’t use the Service to build a competing dataset or product.
5. Your content
You retain ownership of the receipts and data you submit. You grant frij a limited license to process this content solely to operate and provide the Service to you and your household, as described in our Privacy Policy.
6. Households
If you create or join a household, members share the household’s pantry data and may receive escalated reminders. Only join households you trust. You may leave a household at any time; pending reminders may be reassigned within it.
7. Subscriptions & billing
frij offers a free tier and a paid “Plus” subscription. Paid subscriptions are billed through the applicable app store or payment processor and renew automatically unless cancelled. Manage or cancel renewal in your app-store account settings. Except where required by law, payments are non-refundable. Prices and plan limits may change with notice.
8. Third-party services
The Service relies on third parties (including Supabase, Google, Expo, RevenueCat, Resend, and Sentry). Their availability and terms are outside our control, and we are not responsible for them.
9. Disclaimers
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that estimates are accurate or that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free.
10. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, frij and its operators are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for any food spoilage, illness, or loss arising from your use of or reliance on the Service. Our total liability for any claim will not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
11. Termination
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms or to protect the Service or other users.
12. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. We will post the updated version here and revise the “Last updated” date. Continued use after changes means you accept the new Terms.
